A regular action on destruction of narcotics and smuggled tobacco products was held in Akhal province of Turkmenistan. The smuggled goods were seized by Turkmenistan’s law enforcement and military agencies during special operations.
A regular action on destruction of narcotics and smuggled tobacco products was held in Akhal province of Turkmenistan. The smuggled goods were seized by Turkmenistan’s law enforcement and military agencies during special operations.
The action was organized by the Government, the State Coordination Commission on Drug Abuse under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and the State Service for Protection of Security of the Healthy Society of Turkmenistan. It was attended by the heads and members of international organizations and diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, representatives of the regions of the country, public associations, the mass media, elders and students.
All the participants had a chance to throw narcotics as well as a large amount of tobacco products smuggled into Turkmenistan into special furnaces. The smuggled goods were packed in plastic bags, sacks of various sizes and marked packages.
As was highlighted during the action, Turkmenistan has taken a firm and principled stand in the fight against drug trafficking, and it confirms its commitment to international obligations by conducting such actions on a regular basis. Turkmenistan is a party to the UN Conventions against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, as well as a number of regional and international projects and programs aimed at combating drug trafficking.
